Excellent Trainer!
Jan Johnson – 7/7/2011 |
I’ve had a dog my entire life and have never had the need for the services of a trainer until I adopted Murphy, a mixed beagle/lab who is now 5 years old (we found him when he was 6 months). He is highly intelligent, but, definitely has a mind of his own. About a year ago he started to display aggressive behavior, based on fear, towards big dogs on leashes. I also have another big dog so walking them became too much for me to control. It got to the point that I couldn’t walk them in our neighborhood without fear of a dog fight! After only five sessions, Murphy has positively responded to Julie’s techniques and I now can control Murphy and diffuse any potential confrontations. I was amazed how quickly he responded to her techniques! Julie is professional and knowledgeable and I highly recommend her! |
JULIE IS GREAT
5/23/2011 |
Julie is a first class animal trainer and definitely deserves a five star rating.. “Bogey” (my five month old Labradoodle puppy) and I, have just concluded a six week training program. Her positive approach with the click and treat technique definitely works. I would highly recommend Julie to everyone looking for a professional trainer. |
Great Value!

I really buy into Julie’s philosophy on dog training. It works and it is all positive! I recently brought another dog into my household and quickly learned I needed help beyond the initial introduction. While the new dog already had a head start on clicker training, my 4 ½ year old dog didn’t. I’ve done the group training things before, but never saw the immediate improvement as I have with Julie. Julie does an excellent job communicating the theory and instructing on how to execute it properly (which I can see now is very important). She explains in plain English why to do things in a certain way and how your dog may interpret something different if you don’t. I started my 4 ½ year old on this technique as well and was pleasantly surprised by her reaction to me outside during an excited moment. She actually responded to a cue I had been working with her on that directed her focus to me instead of the person beyond the fence. I had never been able to do that before (and truth be told, didn’t expect it then either). I’ve taught the new dog new things as well and after seeing how quickly they are both learning, I am 100% convinced now that its the humans (not the dogs) who need the training. Julie has also helped in teaching me how to read my dog’s body language. Some behaviors are obvious, others are not. When you hire someone to help you with something, you expect to get what you pay for and don’t necessarily need to extend gratitude to them when they deliver. In this case, however, I am truly grateful for Julie’s advice and assistance. You will definitely get more value from her services than you pay for. I know I have. |
Julie Harshaw Animal Trainer
Liz Burbage – 3/6/2011 |
Julie Harshaw was a tremendous help in training my King Charles Spaniel not to bark at passersby. She uses all positive reinforcement which is not only effective but reassures me my dog will not have any negative repercussions. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing assistance with any pet. |
Julie is helping me train my rescue dog
12/7/2010 |
Julie is helping me train my rescue dog. After only one lesson, I noticed a huge difference in my dog. I had tried other methods of training for her, but she just wasn’t enjoying herself and I didn’t feel comfortable yanking on her or using punishment as reinforcement. Once the clicker came out (along with the treats) her whole attitude towards training changed. She’s always wagging her tail and tries so hard to figure out what I want. It’s so cool to see her thinking about things and trying to work it out. It’s also helped me to be a more thoughtful trainer. I have to think about what I want from her and how I can shape and reinforce the behavior. Julie is always positive and has so many great suggestions. She even took the time to make a detailed training log for us so we can track our progress and if I forget something or am ready to move forward, I have detailed instructions. She’s great and her method really works. |

Julie and Rally
Positive Animal Training , USA Rally is my now almost 2 year old pit mix. It was such a relief to meet someone who understood the breed. He is the smartest friendliest and most hyper dog around. With Julie at the lead she really made navigating pregnancy with a deployed husband and an active dog a breeze.

Wonderful Trainer
Mar 10, 2012 by Beverly Jacobson Positive Animal Training , USA I looked for a trainer on line and found this listing for Julie. Our first lesson - and Dylan (my 7 month old Maltese) is already improving! I know he is a smart dog - but his owner needed a few tips! I didn't want to do the group training in a pet store (only because I felt being in the middle of the store would be too confusing). Julie comes to the house and I think I get so much out of the 1 hour lesson - I don't know why I didn't do this earlier! She is a great trainer and good with people AND dogs!
