In-Home Dog Training

Puppy Basics

Whether you just got a new puppy or you are thinking about getting one, this course is for you! If good manners are not taught at a young age, you run the risk of having a dog that will be more difficult to train as he or she gets older. Don’t allow bad habits to start and become even stronger because they are being reinforced by you without you even knowing it. We will teach you how to have a positive relationship with your puppy right from the start and be able to teach your little ball of joy anything you want.

You do not need to wait until your dog is a specific age, the sooner the better! We will work on basic clicker training skills and teach you how to transfer these techniques to teach your new puppy anything you can imagine. We will also work on any issues you might be having with your new puppy such as potty training, crate training, jumping, and nipping.

This is for puppies 8 weeks old to 6 months old.

Lab Puppy Looking Up

Private In-Home Training

We understand that not everyone’s schedule is the same. We understand that you might feel more comfortable learning with your dog at home, where specific behaviors are probably occurring. We also understand that you would like to have one-on-one attention from your trainer. We know your time is valuable and sometimes it’s difficult to get your dog all the way across town to be in group training where other participants might not be as serious about training as you are. Don’t stress! We will come to you at your convenience. If you need to change the time of day and the specific day from week to week, that’s OK with us!

The wonderful thing about private lessons is that you are in charge. You tell us what your goals and priorities are and we will help you achieve those with your dog. We can work on anything you’d like: from greeting people politely; from coming when called, to housetraining. If you aren’t quite sure what you want, we’ll work with you to develop a customized training plan that satisfies your objectives.

You will learn what it’s like to be able to communicate with your dog and your eyes will be opened to an entire new way of training, one that is enjoyable to both you and your “best friend.” We can even teach your kids how to work with your dog so that they can be a part of the fun too! Each session is approximately one hour and will occur once a week for 4-6 weeks depending on your needs.

Mini Group In-Home Training

A more affordable version of private in-home coaching that allows you to buddy-up with a friend or neighbor. You still get the personal attention and the convenience of in-home training…It’ s just what you’ve been looking for! Find one, two, or three more people who are interested in working with their dogs at the same time and we can have mini-group training sessions right in your house. Train on your schedule, not someone else’s!

Group training is beneficial for you and your dog for several reasons. The first benefit is that socialization with other dogs and people is built into a small-group class. The second benefit is that those other dogs and people provide distractions for your dog, so you’re getting “real world” experience during the training session. The third benefit is that training with friends is just plain fun!

Day Training in Your Home

Dog training takes time, something most of us don’t have, especially at the end of a long work day. If you love your dog enough to give him or her the very best but do not have the time or energy to dedicate to training, let us train for you while you are away. Similar to private in-home training, day training is customized around your goals and needs. We will come to your house and train your dog and then transfer those skills to you over a certain period of time so that you carry forward all of the training your dog has learned.

This will be a customized plan to work on specific behaviors you desire.

Problem Solving Sessions

Are you having a specific issue that you would like help with? Is youre dog jumping on people, barking constantly, not coming when you call him, or some other bad habit he’s developed? You might be surprised to find out that you
(or friends and family) might be doing something that is reinforcing your dog’s behaviour and you don’t even know it! Let us come to your home and evaluate the problem and create a training plan that will help you work with your dog in a positive manner. You and your best friend will be so glad you made the call!

A Walk In The Park (or Beach)!

Are you walking your dog or is your dog walking you? If your walks with your dog have become a tug-of-war battle, then you’ve probably become apprehensive about taking him on walks at all.

Let us work with you and your best friend to make your walks enjoyable for both of you. We can stay in your neighborhood or we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of First Landing State Park or the Chesapeake Bay.

This will be a customized plan depending on your needs.

Adoption, Giving a Dog a Second Chance

You’ve been kind enough to give a dog a second chance at a good life, but dogs that have been adopted from a shelter or rescue group may come with specific issues.

These issues may or may not show themselves until the dog
gets comfortable in your home. Your new dog might experience housebreaking issues, crate training problems, fear of loud noises, possession aggression, or any number of problems. Don’t give up on your new addition to the family, it’s never too late to teach an old dog new behaviors. Let us come to your home and evaluate the problem and create a training plan that will help you work with your dog in a positive manner.

You and your best friend will be so glad you made the call! We will give 20% off our services with proof of adoption from a shelter or rescue group.
