What: The series includes 1 orientation class and four 1-hour socialization classes. We will focus on the importance of positive socialization and how to decrease the potential of future behavioral problems such as dog-dog reactivity and dog-people reactivity. We will also cover typical puppy issues such as crate training, house breaking, chewing, and jumping.
Who: Adults and household members involved in the daily activity of the puppy. Any children under the age of 8 must have a separate adult attend and supervise them so the adult handling the puppy can pay full attention to the class.
Preferably your puppy should be between 8-14 weeks of age (exceptions will be made on an individual basis) when starting class and they must be started on their vaccination series (including kennel cough and DA2PP and a negative fecal) by a vet at least 10 days prior to starting class. Proof of vaccinations required, no exceptions.
Why: Early puppy-hood is a critical time for socialization and learning. By 4 months of age, much of your puppy’s personality has been determined. Whatever happens during this time will set the stage for the rest of your puppy’s life.
Many problem behaviors can be prevented by attending puppy preschool. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show your puppy how to confidently relate to other puppies, unfamiliar people, and strange sights and sounds.
Cost: Puppy Preschool is $150 and includes:
* 1 orientation class without your puppy and 4 puppy socialization and training classes
* Clicker with wrist coil
* Invaluable information, training, and education!
Our program and curriculum were developed by a practicing veterinary behaviorist. The instructor is a member of APDT and a Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy for Training and Behavior.
